“Let us live and love, nor give a damn what sour old men say.
The sun that sets may rise again, but when our light has sunk into the earth it is gone forever.” Catullus
And not in the last, here comes Sirmione, a small and dearest town which meant a lot to me and perhaps still does.
They say Sirmione is famous for its thermal water with its healing properties and because “some” writers as Catullo (Catullus), Stendhal, Lawrence and Ghoete made it even more famous by honouring its artistic and environmental beauty.
Visiting Sirmione in December 2010 and without knowing its notable background, it simply conquered me. The walks, those petite coffee shops, those bruschettas were amazing. And how cool is that having a hot bath outdoor when are zero C degrees? I wish all of you to have a chance to be there not only on this virtual trip.
“Life is too short, and the time we waste in yawning never can be regained.” Stendhal
“Only great minds can afford a simple style.” Stendhal
“Every day we should hear at least one little song, read one good poem, see one exquisite picture, and, if possible, speak a few sensible words.” Goethe
Beautiful pics and so tranquil. Makes me wanna sit on a beach with a long cool drink.
Thank you, Mart! Enjoy your coolness 🙂
Very nice series on northern Italian destinations that are a little off the beaten path, Dana.
And, I love the first of the Stendhal quotes! 😉
